OSF Preprints uses SHARE to aggregate search results from a variety of other preprint providers such as arXiv, bioRxiv, PeerJ, CogPrints and others. Over a million preprints are indexed and can be searched by author or keywords, or filtered by subject, preprint server, and most recent contributions. Preprint contributors are encouraged to provide supplemental data and materials, if available. If the preprint is associated with an existing OSF project, that project is linked for further exploration.

Preprints is a platform dedicated to making early versions of research outputs permanently available and citable. We post original research articles and comprehensive reviews, and papers can be updated by authors at any time. Content on Preprints is not peer-reviewed and can receive feedback from readers.

The SHARE infrastructure was developed by the Association of Research Libraries in partnership with the Center for Open Science. SHARE is funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The SHARE initiative was founded in 2013 by ARL, the Association of American Universities (AAU), and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU).
